A heaping stack of pancakes and bacon is not something that the French typically indulge in for breakfast. Generally, a continental breakfast is the preferred fare for the French and comprises a piece of viennoiserie, like a croissant or a pain au chocolat, a coffee and a glass of orange juice. Since it’s such simple fare, eating out for breakfast has never been trendy for the French.

Did you know that we start out our morning Original Flavors of Paris tour at a local bakery for a coffee and a flakey, melt-in-your-mouth croissant?

However, the breakfast culture in Paris is changing and now it certainly is becoming trendy. Over the past few years, more and more restaurants and cafés have started serving good, hearty breakfasts, and there are even eating establishments now specializing in breakfast and brunch in Paris. This is good news for visitors, who are early risers and are hankering to chow down on something substantial before a big day of walking and visiting the sites.

If you’re wondering where to eat breakfast in Paris, whether you're in the mood for patisseries, shakshuka, omelettes or pancakes, the city now has you covered on the breakfast and brunch scene.
